Dole Whip at Disney, where to get it, the flavors and the recipe

What it costs

How much a Dole Whip costs at Disney

Florida is the cheaper coast by $1.50 a cup. A float, the swirl piped over a glass of pineapple juice, adds $1.30 at Aloha Isle and 50 cents at Disneyland, and it is the better buy on a hot day because the juice keeps it cold longer.

Skip the line

How to get one without the wait

  • Check the app at Aloha Isle. The line in Adventureland can stretch on a summer afternoon. When mobile order is switched on for Aloha Isle in the My Disney Experience app, order there and walk up to the pickup window instead.
  • Try Sunshine Tree Terrace. It sits a short walk away in the same land, pours orange and strawberry Dole Whip, and its line is usually the shorter one.
  • Go early or late. The rush runs from lunch to late afternoon. A cup right after the park opens or after the evening fireworks is the quickest you will get.
  • No park day needed. Pineapple Lanai at the Polynesian and Swirls on the Water at Disney Springs both serve it, and neither needs a ticket.

Make it at home

The Dole Whip recipe Disney shared

Disney shared this three ingredient frozen pineapple treat in April 2020, while the parks were closed, as a take on the Dole Whip rather than the exact park recipe. It is creamier than the park cup because of the ice cream, and it takes five minutes.

Dole Whip

1 serving

Five minutes blender piping bag with a star tip

  • 2 cups frozen pineapple chunks
  • 4 ounces pineapple juice
  • 1 large scoop vanilla ice cream
  1. Blend. Add the frozen pineapple, pineapple juice and vanilla ice cream to a blender and blend until smooth and thick.
  2. Pipe the swirl. Spoon the mix into a piping bag with a large star tip and pipe it into a cup in tight circles, working from the outside in.
  3. Make it a float. For a float, pour more pineapple juice into a glass first, then pipe the swirl on top.

Closer to the park cup. The park soft serve has no dairy, so for a closer match swap the vanilla ice cream for a dairy free coconut frozen dessert. Freeze the pineapple yourself the night before, and let it sit five minutes out of the freezer so the blender does not stall.

Or buy it. Dole now sells Dole Whip cups in grocery store freezers, and Costco carries multipacks, though the store version is a different recipe from the park soft serve.

Since 1984

The history of the Dole Whip

Dole Whip began as a sponsorship. Dole took over the Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland in 1976 and sold juice and pineapple spears there for years before a soft serve came along. The whip arrived in Florida first.
