Cedar Point height requirements

Cedar Point heights run from no minimum with a companion on most Kiddy Kingdom and Planet Snoopy rides to 54 inches for Raptor and Rougarou. The big coasters need 48 inches (Millennium Force, Magnum XL-200) or 52 inches (Top Thrill 2, Steel Vengeance, Valravn). A 48 inch child can ride 56 of the 66 rides.

Cedar Point's 18 coasters open in five steps. Each step below lists the coasters a child can ride once they reach it.

  1. 36 inches, 2 of 18 coasters. Adds Woodstock Express (with a companion until 48) and Wilderness Run.
  2. 42 inches, 4 of 18 coasters. Adds Iron Dragon and Wild Mouse (with a companion until 48).
  3. 48 inches, 11 of 18 coasters. Adds Millennium Force, Magnum XL-200, Siren's Curse, Gemini, Corkscrew, Blue Streak and Cedar Creek Mine Ride.
  4. 52 inches, 16 of 18 coasters. Adds Top Thrill 2, Steel Vengeance, Maverick, Valravn and GateKeeper.
  5. 54 inches, 18 of 18 coasters. Adds Raptor and Rougarou.

How the companion rule works at Cedar Point

Cedar Point sets a companion line ride by ride. On 22 rides a shorter child boards with a supervising companion and rides alone above a higher mark, such as Wild Mouse at 42 and 48 inches or Troika at 42 and 54. The post shows those rides with a dashed gold outline while your child is inside the band.

The kids areas run the other way. Most Kiddy Kingdom rides list no minimum but stop at 54 inches, and Joe Cool's Dodgem School is for riders 35 to 53 inches. At the top end, Millennium Force, Maverick, GateKeeper, Rougarou and Super Himalaya list a 78 inch maximum, SlingShot 79 inches and Siren's Curse 80 inches.

  1. Measure at home in shoes. Operators check at each ride entrance, and the posted sign there is the final word.
  2. Start a 36 inch rider in Camp Snoopy. Woodstock Express, Wilderness Run, Red Baron and Woodstock's Airmail sit together near the Gemini Midway.
  3. Bring a companion who also fits. The supervising companion has to meet the ride's own rules too, maximum heights included.
