Space Mountain is the classic indoor coaster that rockets through near-total darkness. It is not especially fast on paper, topping out around twenty eight miles per hour, but riding blind in the dark makes every turn and dip feel quicker and sharper than it is. The ride lasts about two and a half minutes.
There are no big drops and nothing goes upside down. Instead you get three mild drops, the largest about twenty six feet, plus a lot of sudden turns you cannot see coming. It is also one of Disney's older coasters, so expect a jerkier, rougher ride than the smooth new headliners, which is part of the retro charm.
